You Don’t Have To Say Goodbye to French Fries!

Let’s face it, french fries are very alluring, tempting you with their delicious aroma and crunch/creamy texture. However, whether we are omnivorous or plant-based, we all know that they are not a healthy food choice. Happily, I bring you some good news. There is a way to make perfectly delicious french fries without using any oil at all.

SUPER OVEN BAKED FRENCH FRIES

7 to 8 small to medium-sized potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russets are best)
1 tbsp flour
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp chili powder
Salt and pepper to taste

Clean and slice potatoes into fairly thick wedges, ¾” to 1” thick. (If using Yukon Gold potatoes there is no need to peel the potatoes; peel Russet potatoes).

Add potatoes to a pot of cold water (enough water to cover the potatoes) and bring to a boil
Once boiling, continue to boil for 5 minutes.

Preheat oven to 425° and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

After boiling, drain potatoes and place back into pot.

Add half the seasonings to the pot.  Place the lid securely on the pot and then shake pot and contents vigorously for at least 5 to 10 seconds to distribute the powder among the pieces.   Add the rest of the seasonings and repeat the shaking.  The shaking process creates a textured surface which gives the potatoes a crispy finish.

Spread coated potatoes on the cookie sheet and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.  Turn over after about 10 minutes of baking.
